Food Security & Livelihoods Officer – Aden

About the role

The Food Security & Livelihoods (FSL) Officer will lead the implementation of activities aimed at reducing food insecurity and improving nutrition in the governorate of Aden. Working under the FSL Programme Coordinator, the officer will engage with communities, register vulnerable families, and ensure timely delivery of livelihood support.

Key responsibilities

• Mobilise and sensitise local authorities and communities about project objectives, selection criteria and activities.
• Develop and review beneficiary selection criteria in coordination with government and community representatives.
• Organise and facilitate community meetings, workshops and trainings in an inclusive manner.
• Oversee the execution of livelihood interventions, monitor progress and support beneficiaries to receive assistance on schedule.
• Maintain strong monitoring and evaluation (M&E) systems, ensuring data quality and integration of results.
• Represent Save the Children in community forums, resolve disputes and ensure transparency.
• Support reconciliation processes and documentation as required.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian or development programmes focused on food security, nutrition or livelihoods.
• Proven ability to work with vulnerable populations, including women, children and displaced families.
• Strong communication and community‑engagement skills.
• Ability to work independently in a challenging environment and travel within the project area.

Required skills

• Knowledge of community mobilisation and beneficiary selection processes.
• Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation tools for food security projects.
• Basic financial reconciliation and reporting skills.
