Chief Health (P-5) – Senior Leadership Position

About the role

The Chief Health will lead UNICEF's health programmes in Yemen, overseeing all stages from strategic planning to delivery. This senior position requires managing a multidisciplinary team to achieve sustainable health outcomes for women and children.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial leadership and set strategic direction for health initiatives.
• Develop and plan health programmes, including gender, maternal, neonatal, child survival, and emergency preparedness.
• Monitor programme implementation, ensure quality control and results‑based management.
• Offer advisory services and technical support to partners and stakeholders.
• Lead advocacy, networking, and partnership‑building activities.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building within the health team.

Required profile

• Medical or advanced university degree in public health, pediatric health, health policy, epidemiology or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of professional experience at the international level in public health planning, maternal and neonatal health, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
• Strong analytical thinking, decisive action and persuasive influence.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another UN language is an asset.
