Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Coordinator

About the role

The MHPSS Coordinator will oversee all Médecins du Monde mental health and psychosocial support programming for the Yemen mission, contributing to proposal writing and country strategy development.

Key responsibilities

• Lead development, implementation and monitoring of the country MHPSS strategy and programme.
• Ensure integration of MHPSS into primary health care services with gender‑sensitive approaches.
• Guarantee compliance with MdM and international MHPSS standards and develop related training materials.
• Strengthen referral pathways, map needs and design programmes to address gaps.
• Provide technical supervision, capacity‑building and performance management for MHPSS officers in Sana’a, Aden and Marib.
• Represent MdM in coordination forums, build relationships with authorities, NGOs, UN agencies and contribute to advocacy.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and learning processes, and act as focal point for reporting and donor proposals.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Public Health or related field with MHPSS and project‑management training.
• Proven experience managing MHPSS programmes in humanitarian settings, including design, quality assurance and donor reporting.
• Ability to integrate MHPSS into primary health care and knowledge of IASC and WHO MHPSS frameworks.
• Strong coordination skills and experience working with donors, budgets and multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Fluent English (written and spoken); Arabic and Yemen experience are strong assets.

Required skills

• Knowledge of IASC and WHO MHPSS frameworks.
• Experience with training‑of‑trainers programmes (e.g., PFA, PM+).
• Technical supervision and capacity‑building in humanitarian contexts.
