Psychosocial Support Officer – IDP Assistance (8‑month contract)

About the role
The Psychosocial Support Officer will provide mental health and psychosocial services to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Al‑Dhahlea. Working within a humanitarian framework, the officer will conduct assessments, deliver individual and group counseling, and help strengthen coping mechanisms in displacement settings.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct daily interviews and psychological counseling sessions with IDPs.
- Deliver individual and group psychosocial support activities.
- Prepare periodic reports on mental‑health trends and propose intervention strategies.
- Refer critical cases to the Project Manager and coordinate with partners for specialized treatment.
- Maintain accurate case records and produce monthly follow‑up reports.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and provide capacity‑building to colleagues and partners.
- Report incidents of sexual assault or domestic violence and develop assistance plans for survivors.
- Design and implement mental‑health awareness programmes for IDPs.
- Adhere to the code of conduct, working hours, and any additional project tasks.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience delivering psychosocial support in humanitarian contexts.
- Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
- Physically fit, presentable, and attentive to detail.
- No prior convictions related to exploitation, abuse, fraud, or corruption.
Required skills
- Proficiency in computer use, data entry, and archiving.
