Chief Health (P-5) – Fixed Term – Aden, Yemen

About the role

The Chief Health will lead UNICEF's health programmes in Yemen, overseeing all stages from strategic planning to delivery. This senior position is responsible for ensuring high‑impact results in gender, maternal, neonatal, child survival and emergency preparedness initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Provide managerial leadership to the health team and set actionable plans aligned with UNICEF’s strategic framework.
• Develop, plan and oversee health programmes, ensuring they meet results‑based management standards.
• Monitor programme performance, conduct quality control and report on outcomes.
• Offer advisory services and technical support to partners and stakeholders.
• Lead advocacy, networking and partnership‑building activities.
• Promote innovation, knowledge management and capacity‑building within the health sector.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in public health, pediatric health, health policy, epidemiology or a related field.
• Minimum ten years of professional experience at the international level in public health planning, maternal‑neonatal health, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness.
• Strong analytical thinking, decisive action and persuasive influence.
• Fluency in English.
