Nutrition Prevention International Consultant (6‑month contract)

About the role

UNICEF Yemen is seeking an experienced international consultant to support the development of a National Multisectoral Early Childhood Development (ECD) Strategy aligned with the Nurturing Care Framework. The assignment is remote‑based with travel to Aden and will last six months.

Key responsibilities

• Develop an evidence‑based, context‑appropriate National Multisectoral ECD Strategy and accompanying action plan.
• Design a monitoring and evaluation framework to track implementation, institutionalisation and impact of integrated ECD services.
• Facilitate high‑level stakeholder workshops with UN agencies, ministries, and multi‑sectoral clusters (Nutrition, Health, Social Protection).
• Produce analytical reports, strategic documents and concise recommendations under tight deadlines.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree (Master’s or PhD) in Child Development, Early Childhood Development, Public Health, Nutrition, Social Sciences or related field.
• 8–10 years of progressive international experience developing multisectoral ECD policies and strategies in fragile, conflict‑affected or emergency contexts.
• Proven coordination experience with UN agencies, ministries of health and multi‑sectoral clusters.
• Fluency in English; operational command of Arabic is highly advantageous.

Required skills

• High proficiency in applying the Nurturing Care Framework.
• Experience overseeing quantitative and qualitative intervention studies.
• Expertise in designing operational frameworks, theories of change, and M&E systems for nutrition and ECD programmes.
• Strong analytical, workshop design and facilitation skills.
