National Education Technical Advisor (Aden, Yemen)

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a National Education Technical Advisor to provide strategic and technical leadership for its education portfolio in Yemen. The role will ensure that all education programmes – from formal schooling to emergency learning initiatives – are context‑relevant, inclusive, safe and evidence‑based.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction, quality assurance and design of education programmes across Yemen, including formal, non‑formal, foundational literacy, teacher development and safe schools.
• Align programmes with Save the Children standards, the Country Strategic Plan, national education priorities and donor requirements.
• Represent Save the Children on national education coordination platforms, with the Ministry of Education and donor agencies.
• Support field teams and partners to deliver high‑quality education services and contribute to the sustainable nationalisation of senior advisory functions.
• Adapt priorities and working hours during major humanitarian emergencies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in education programming within development or humanitarian contexts, preferably at a national level.
• Strong knowledge of formal and non‑formal education, inclusive education, safe schools and education in emergencies.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams, engage donors and represent an organisation in high‑level coordination forums.
• Commitment to child protection and willingness to undergo rigorous background checks.
