National Education Technical Advisor (Aden)

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a National Education Technical Advisor to provide strategic and technical leadership for its education portfolio in Yemen. The role ensures that education programmes – from formal schooling to emergency learning – are inclusive, evidence‑based and aligned with national priorities and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction, quality assurance and design of education programmes across Yemen.
• Oversee implementation of formal, non‑formal, foundational literacy and numeracy, teacher development, safe schools and inclusive education initiatives.
• Coordinate with operations, MEAL, advocacy, safeguarding, finance and partner teams to ensure realistic, safe and accountable delivery.
• Represent Save the Children on national education coordination platforms, with donors and the Ministry of Education.
• Strengthen national technical leadership, support field teams and partners, and contribute to the sustainable nationalisation of senior advisory functions.
• Adapt priorities and work hours in major humanitarian emergencies as needed.

Required profile

• Proven experience in education programming within development or humanitarian contexts.
• Strong ability to provide technical leadership and quality oversight.
• Excellent coordination skills across multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Capacity to represent the organisation in high‑level stakeholder meetings.
• Commitment to child protection and willingness to undergo rigorous background checks.

Required skills

• Knowledge of teacher professional development, safe schools and inclusive education.
• Experience with systems strengthening and education in emergencies.
• Donor engagement and programme design skills.
