Education Technical Advisor – National

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking a senior Education Technical Advisor to provide strategic and technical leadership for its education portfolio in Yemen. The role will ensure that all education programmes, including formal, non‑formal, inclusive, safe schools and emergency education, are contextually grounded, evidence‑based and aligned with national priorities and donor requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction, quality assurance and programme design for education interventions across Yemen.
• Develop and oversee the learning agenda, donor engagement strategy and external representation of the education sector.
• Coordinate with operations, MEAL, advocacy, safeguarding, finance and partner teams to ensure realistic, safe and accountable programmes.
• Represent Save the Children in national education coordination platforms, Ministry of Education meetings and donor forums.
• Strengthen national technical leadership, support field teams and partners, and contribute to the sustainable nationalisation of senior advisory functions.
• Adapt priorities and working hours in response to major humanitarian emergencies.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in education programming in development or humanitarian contexts, preferably at a national level.
• Proven ability to provide strategic technical leadership and to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of formal and non‑formal education, inclusive education, safe schools and education in emergencies.
• Commitment to child protection and willingness to undergo rigorous background checks.
