Country Director

About the role

The Country Director will lead Relief International’s mission in Yemen, overseeing all programmatic, operational and strategic activities across the country. Reporting to the global team, the role ensures high‑quality delivery of health, nutrition, protection, food security, livelihood and WASH programmes while navigating a fluid security environment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute a strategic vision for the Yemen mission, aligning programmes with community needs and organisational goals.
• Mobilise resources and build partnerships with donors, government bodies, UN agencies and other stakeholders to secure sustainable funding.
• Oversee programme implementation, resource allocation and financial controls in collaboration with the senior management team.
• Ensure compliance with audit standards, financial transparency and robust administrative processes.
• Manage risk, security and access issues, maintaining the safety of staff and beneficiaries.
• Represent Relief International at high‑level forums, advocating for the mission’s objectives.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development settings, preferably in conflict‑affected contexts.
• Strong track record in fundraising, donor relations and partnership development.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Ability to handle both strategic planning and detailed operational challenges simultaneously.
