Advocacy, Communications & Campaigns Director

About the role

Save the Children International is seeking an experienced leader to head Advocacy, Communications and Campaigns for its Country Office in Aden, Yemen. Reporting to the Country Director, the Director will shape and deliver the organization’s public advocacy, media engagement and campaigning strategy on the humanitarian crisis affecting children.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an integrated advocacy, communications and campaigns strategy aligned with the Country Office’s humanitarian and development priorities.
• Lead external advocacy efforts with donors, governments, UN agencies and other stakeholders to secure access, funding and protection for children.
• Oversee internal and external communications, including media relations, social media, and campaign messaging.
• Coordinate a team of coordinators (Advocacy, Campaigns, Civil Society Engagement; Analysis and Reporting; Communications).
• Support senior management in risk mapping, mitigation and policy analysis, providing strategic advice on operational and humanitarian space issues.
• Represent the organization in high‑level forums, media briefings and donor events.

Required profile

• Minimum 8‑10 years of progressive experience in advocacy, communications or campaign management, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in complex, high‑risk environments.
• Strong understanding of child protection, health, nutrition, food security and education in emergencies.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
• Ability to work flexible hours and adapt to rapidly changing security conditions.
