Advocacy, Communications & Campaigns Director (Aden)

About the role

The Advocacy, Communications, and Campaigns Director will lead the external and internal advocacy, communications and campaign work for Save the Children’s Yemen Country Office. Reporting to the Country Director, the role is a senior member of the Senior Management Team and is responsible for shaping strategy, raising visibility and influencing policy to protect children in Yemen.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement an advocacy strategy aligned with Category 1 response priorities.
• Lead public and private communications, campaigns and media engagement on the humanitarian crisis and child protection issues in Yemen.
• Support programme areas such as Child Protection, Health & Nutrition, Food Security, Education in Emergencies and humanitarian access.
• Provide risk mapping, mitigation and policy analysis for the Country Office.
• Manage and mentor the Advocacy, Campaigns & Civil Society Engagement Coordinator, Analysis & Reporting Coordinator and Communications Coordinator.
• Ensure humanitarian access, increase international visibility and donor interest, and apply pressure to end conflict affecting children.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in advocacy, communications or campaign management within humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven senior leadership capability, able to work flexibly and beyond normal hours in emergency settings.
• Strong understanding of child protection, health, nutrition, food security and education sectors.
• Ability to conduct risk assessments, policy analysis and strategic planning.
• Commitment to child‑safety standards and willingness to undergo rigorous background checks.
