Field Manager – Shabwah & Abyan

About the role

The Field Manager leads International Rescue Committee (IRC) operations and program support in the governorates of Shabwah and Abyan, Yemen. Reporting to the Field Coordinator, the role ensures that field activities are effective, compliant with regulations, and secure for staff and beneficiaries. The manager also represents IRC with government ministries, local communities, partners, and coordination forums such as OCHA.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day field operations, ensuring compliance with IRC policies and donor requirements.
• Maintain security protocols and risk‑management measures for staff and assets.
• Act as the primary liaison with government line ministries, local authorities, and community leaders.
• Participate in coordination meetings and represent IRC in humanitarian coordination platforms.
• Supervise and mentor field staff, including recruitment, performance management, and capacity building.
• Manage administrative functions such as logistics, procurement, and financial reporting.
• Contribute to strategic planning and decision‑making as a member of the extended senior management team.

Required profile

• Proven experience managing humanitarian programmes in complex, insecure environments.
• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with authorities and partners.
• Ability to work under pressure and make timely decisions.
• Commitment to IRC’s mission and humanitarian principles.
