Travel Associate (Tier 0, 1 & 2 Applicants)

About the role

The UNDP Yemen Country Office is looking for a Travel Associate in Aden, reporting to the Team Leader – Service Center. The position has no mobility requirement and is open to Tier 0, 1 and 2 applicants under the UNDP's tiered application process. It is a fixed-term local contract of 1 year, extendable, in the General Services career track.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with UN/UNDP travel rules and regulations, including checking travel requests against entitlements and processing travel authorizations and claims correctly.
• Arrange travel services at optimum cost: book flights with UNHAS and hotels, negotiate routes and prices with travel service providers, and keep travelers informed of itinerary changes.
• Monitor travel expenditures, ensure timely and accurate billing, settlement and cost recovery, and follow up on outstanding entitlements.
• Pay staff, consultants and delegates promptly, and pay UNHAS and travel agents, including preparing purchase orders and reconciling payments with Finance.
• Share knowledge with operations and project staff through training and participation in UNDP knowledge networks.

Required profile

• Eligible as Tier 0, 1 or 2 applicant (permanent or fixed-term UNDP/UNCDF/UNV staff, or temporary appointees and PSA staff).
• Ability to work across units and projects in multidisciplinary teams.
