Senior Operations Coordinator

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) Yemen is looking for a Senior Operations Coordinator based in Aden. Reporting to the Country Director and sitting on the Country Program Senior Management Team, the role manages the Operations Department's supply chain, administration, ICT and field coordination, improves how operations support programme implementation, and strengthens support to IRC partners. The position is unaccompanied and involves extensive in-country and occasional regional travel.

Key responsibilities

• Manage supply chain strategy and performance (procurement, warehousing, transport, distribution) and coordinate with partners and authorities on compliance with donor requirements and IRC standards.
• Lead planning, implementation and maintenance of IT infrastructure and systems, cybersecurity and disaster recovery, and guide staff on IT use.
• Oversee data management systems, collection, storage and analysis to support operational decisions.
• Support programmes and field offices, including programme expansion, project preparation and assessments, and link operations with programming teams.
• Coordinate with Finance on the monthly spending plan, vendor payments and documentation of supplies and transactions.
• Act as a member of the Senior Management Team, take part in partnership risk management and capacity assessments, and hold responsibility for the operations parts of the Strategic Action Plan.
• Lead the Ops team: one-on-ones, coaching, performance evaluations, team meetings, duty of care, and regular visits to field offices.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Management, International Development or Social Sciences.
• At least five years of progressively responsible international work experience, including at least three years in a leadership role at Senior Coordinator level in multi-site, multi-sectoral operations.
• Proven experience overseeing a portfolio of complex, donor-funded projects; previous experience in the MENA region or with IRC is preferred.
• Fluency in English is required; Arabic is an asset.

Required skills

• Strong budget and fiscal oversight, and experience managing complex, multi-sectoral, donor-funded projects.
• Preferred: experience in IT and security, and in safety, security, risk management and project management.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation and people-management skills in cross-cultural settings.
