Security and Systems Engineer

About the role

The Security and Systems Engineer will serve as the primary technical expert for IT and telecommunications at a federal site, overseeing system administration, satellite communications, and high‑availability networks. This role involves designing, integrating, and maintaining complex communications infrastructures while advising senior leaders on policy and operational impacts.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, analyze, develop, and evaluate NSEP and contingency telecommunications plans.
• Lead IT and information management system administration for the assigned site.
• Operate and maintain a Satellite Communication (SATCOM) Ground Entry Point.
• Provide full‑spectrum support for desktops, laptops, printers, VoIP, VTC, and mission‑critical systems.
• Manage HF, VHF, UHF, Ku‑band SATCOM, and RF‑over‑fiber systems, including setup, configuration, and maintenance.
• Develop and implement IT and telecommunications strategic initiatives and continuity procedures.
• Advise senior leadership on system limitations, policy implementation, and operational impacts.
• Integrate national‑level guidance and manage major communications programs for the division.

Required profile

• One year of specialized experience equivalent to GS‑12 level in designing, integrating, and managing complex telecommunications systems.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with SCI and SAP access.
• Eligibility for a set‑schedule tour of duty.
