Protection Monitoring Assistant – Mixed Migration

About the role

The Protection Monitoring Assistant (Mixed Migration) will support the Danish Refugee Council’s protection monitoring activities for migrants and other people on the move in Taiz (Dhubab) and Lahj. Working under the Protection Team Leader, the role combines field‑based data collection with information management to inform programme adaptation, referrals, coordination and advocacy.

Key responsibilities

• Support development, testing and roll‑out of mixed‑movement monitoring tools, methodologies and sampling approaches.
• Maintain KoboToolbox/ODK tools, trackers and monitoring databases with proper version control.
• Consolidate data from focus groups, key informant interviews, observations, arrival monitoring and service mapping.
• Conduct weekly data cleaning and validation and coordinate with the Protection Team Leader.
• Triangulate information with community focal points, service providers and coordination partners, documenting limitations.
• Monitor and analyse trends in migrant arrivals, routes, protection risks and service access; flag emerging issues.
• Produce monthly dashboards, statistical summaries and other information products with relevant disaggregation.
• Contribute to quarterly analytical reports and thematic briefs on mixed‑movement protection concerns.

Required profile

• Experience in protection monitoring or humanitarian data collection in conflict‑affected settings.
• Familiarity with field‑based methodologies such as focus group discussions and key informant interviews.
• Ability to work independently in the field and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.
