Global Direct Category Buyer – Biomedical Equipment

About the role

The Global Direct Category Buyer for Biomedical Equipment will lead the development and execution of MSF's worldwide procurement strategy for medical devices, capital equipment, spare parts, accessories, software and related services. Reporting to the Head of Global Direct Procurement, the role works across MSF’s supply centres in Amsterdam, Bordeaux and Brussels and collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to ensure efficient, compliant, and cost‑effective sourcing.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse the biomedical equipment market and build a comprehensive category strategy aligned with MSF’s mission and the Global Procurement Unit’s objectives.
• Develop and maintain a global view of spend, supplier performance, and risk for capital equipment, spare parts, accessories, software and licences.
• Coordinate with QA teams, regional hubs, other category buyers and working groups to ensure compliance and best practices.
• Engage with internal legal, procurement heads of other NGOs and UN entities, and external suppliers to negotiate contracts and manage relationships.
• Support the implementation of procurement processes, tools and training across MSF entities.

Required profile

• Significant experience in strategic procurement, preferably in medical or technical equipment.
• Strong analytical abilities and experience building category strategies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management skills across multicultural environments.
• Fluency in English; additional languages are a plus.
