About the role
The Qualified Translator will support MSF’s medical and humanitarian operations in Marib Governorate, Yemen, by providing high‑quality written and oral translation between Arabic and English.
Key responsibilities
- Translate medical documents, reports, guidelines, consent forms, training materials, and internal communications, ensuring accuracy, clarity and confidentiality.
- Provide consecutive and/or simultaneous interpretation during meetings, trainings, community discussions and interactions with patients and local partners.
- Collaborate with medical, logistical and coordination teams to maintain consistent terminology and culturally appropriate communication.
- Assist in drafting or reviewing communication materials for local stakeholders while respecting MSF’s neutrality and principles.
Required profile
- Advanced proficiency in Arabic and English (spoken and written) with excellent grammar and style.
- Demonstrated experience translating technical and non‑technical documents, preferably in medical, humanitarian or legal contexts.
- Proven oral interpretation skills in meetings, trainings and community settings.
- Strong organizational, time‑management and confidentiality skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, multidisciplinary team and adapt to changing operational needs.
- Commitment to MSF’s principles of neutrality, impartiality and independence.
Required skills
- Proficiency with basic IT tools and office software (Word, Excel, email, shared drives).
- Familiarity with translation tools.
