MHPSS Assistant (National)

About the role

The MHPSS Assistant will support the Child Protection (CP) Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Officer in delivering a range of MHPSS services to vulnerable children, families and communities across Lahj, Aldhalea and Taiz. Working within Save the Children International, the role contributes to the organization’s commitment to keep children safe and promote their wellbeing.

Key responsibilities

• Facilitate planning and rollout of SCI MHPSS models, including child and youth resilience, HEART, PM+, structured play, home‑based care and individual/group counselling.
• Train and strengthen the capacity of MOSAL MHPSS facilitators and key stakeholders on integrating MHPSS into daily work.
• Collaborate with the CP/MHPSS Officer to conduct assessments, identify needs and develop appropriate prevention and response interventions.
• Develop and implement tools for MHPSS interventions and monitor their impact.
• Map existing MHPSS services, maintain relationships with providers and coordinate cross‑referrals.
• Ensure case management staff incorporate MHPSS support into their work with children and caregivers.
• Provide tailored counselling for cases requiring mental and psychological support.

Required profile

• Willingness and ability to work with vulnerable and at‑risk children, caregivers and community members.
• Must pass rigorous background checks in line with Save the Children’s child‑safety policies.
• Ability to travel to and work in field locations in Yemen.
• Experience or training in mental health, psychosocial support or child protection is preferred.
