About the role
The Psychosocial Support Officer will provide mental health and psychosocial services to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Al‑Dhahla. The role involves conducting assessments, delivering individual and group counseling, and contributing to the overall well‑being of displaced communities in line with humanitarian principles.
Key responsibilities
- Conduct daily interviews and psychological counseling sessions with IDPs.
- Implement individual and group psychosocial support activities.
- Prepare periodic reports on mental‑health trends and propose intervention strategies.
- Refer critical cases to the Project Manager and discuss them in vulnerable‑group meetings.
- Coordinate with partners and local authorities for specialized referrals.
- Maintain case records and produce monthly follow‑up reports.
- Participate in meetings, trainings, and provide training to colleagues and partners on mental‑health service delivery.
- Report sexual assault or domestic violence cases and develop assistance plans for survivors.
- Design and deliver awareness programmes on mental health for IDPs.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Psychology or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in psychosocial support or mental‑health services.
- Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Strong interpersonal abilities and capacity to work under pressure.
- Physically fit, presentable, and attentive to detail.
- Willingness to commit full‑time and no prior convictions related to exploitation, abuse, or corruption.
Required skills
- Proficiency in computer use, data entry, and archiving.
