Weapon Contamination Field Officer (Yemen)

About the role

The Weapon Contamination (WeC) Field Officer supports the planning, implementation, monitoring and follow‑up of ICRC weapon contamination activities across Yemen. Working closely with the WeC Coordinator, operational partners and the Yemen Red Crescent Society, the officer contributes to humanitarian mine action interventions that aim to reduce risks from landmines and explosive ordnance.

Key responsibilities

• Support the planning, implementation and monitoring of WeC activities in coordination with partners.
• Contribute to land release, Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE), victim assistance, emergency response and capacity‑strengthening initiatives.
• Monitor field activities and provide timely feedback, analysis and recommendations.
• Facilitate communication and information exchange between ICRC, YEMAC, YRCS, local authorities and other stakeholders.
• Collect, manage, analyse and report operational data to inform decision‑making.
• Identify operational challenges, emerging risks and propose mitigation measures.
• Support the organisation and delivery of training, workshops and lessons‑learned sessions.
• Promote integrated approaches with other ICRC programmes such as Economic Security, Water and Habitat, Health and Protection.

Required profile

• Yemeni nationality (only Yemeni candidates may apply).
• Experience or familiarity with humanitarian mine action or related field operations.
• Strong analytical abilities to provide feedback and recommendations.
• Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with multiple partners and authorities.
