Utility Operator – Birmingham Service Division

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Utility Operator to join our Birmingham Service Division. The role involves cleaning, stripping and painting AC/DC motor components during repair cycles, using a range of specialized equipment while adhering to safety protocols.

Key responsibilities

• Clean internal and external parts of motors, frames, cores, armatures, gears, housings and other equipment for repair.
• Operate cleaning equipment such as steam cleaners, parts washers, sand‑blasters, etc.
• Operate specialized repair equipment including dip tanks, VPI systems, controlled‑temperature burnout and bake‑out ovens.
• Use material handling equipment (fork trucks, cranes) to move and store motors and parts.
• Paint repaired and assembled motors before shipment.
• Follow all safety procedures and wear required personal protective equipment.
• Maintain housekeeping in the assigned work area.
• Accurately complete required documentation and follow established procedures.

Required profile

• Ability to perform stripping operations on AC/DC motor parts.
• Ability to operate material handling equipment such as fork trucks and cranes.
• Demonstrated competence in following detailed procedures and completing paperwork.
• Commitment to safety and proper use of personal protective equipment.
• Capability to work effectively with hand and power tools.
