Security Coordination Officer

About the role

The Security Coordination Officer will support the OHCHR Country Office in Yemen by ensuring the safety of staff, assets, and operations. Reporting to the Country Representative and the Senior Security Manager in Geneva, the officer will apply UN security standards to manage risks in a challenging environment.

Key responsibilities

• Monitor the security situation in Yemen and assess its impact on OHCHR activities.
• Advise the Head of Office on security matters and develop tactics, techniques and procedures in line with the UN Security Management System.
• Accompany staff on field missions, including monitoring, inquiry and investigation assignments, as a risk‑management measure.
• Maintain and regularly test evacuation routes (air, land, sea) and emergency communication systems in coordination with UNDSS.
• Investigate security incidents involving personnel or property and produce detailed reports.
• Support the development of risk‑management strategies, analyse emerging threats and provide written security trend analyses.
• Participate in meetings, committees and task forces, preparing briefing papers and responding to security queries.
• Integrate security considerations into all phases of OHCHR programmes and operations.

Required profile

• Proven experience in security coordination, risk management or related fields.
• Familiarity with the UN Security Management System and UN safety protocols.
• Ability to travel frequently within Yemen and operate in high‑risk environments.
• Strong analytical, reporting and investigative skills.
