Protection Officer

About the role

The Protection Officer will work under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader to deliver high‑quality protection services to conflict‑affected populations in Sa’ada, Yemen. The role focuses on Victim Assistance, medical referral coordination, and cash‑for‑protection interventions, ensuring that beneficiaries receive timely and appropriate support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist individuals in accessing life‑saving medical interventions in line with DRC Victim Assistance SOPs.
• Conduct verification, intake, follow‑up, and closure of client files, maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
• Report cases that exceed assistance ceilings and organize case conferences with relevant stakeholders.
• Interview patients to verify war‑related injury details and confirm admission information.
• Perform regular hospital visits to monitor treatment progress.
• Prepare and submit payment requests manually or via Microsoft Dynamics and coordinate with the finance department for disbursement.
• Maintain and update the Victim Assistance tracking sheet, ensuring compliance with timelines.

Required profile

• Ability to work under the guidance of a Protection Team Leader.
• Strong interview and verification skills for sensitive cases.
• Commitment to confidentiality, accuracy, and timely reporting.
• Experience in coordinating with medical facilities and finance teams.

Required skills

• Microsoft Dynamics (for payment request processing and case tracking).
