Midwife Supervisor – Backup

About the role

Midwives Supervisor – Backup will support and supervise the midwifery team in the Abs district of Hajja governorate, ensuring high‑quality maternal and newborn care within the MSF humanitarian project.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise, support and evaluate midwives, midwife assistants and related staff such as cleaners.
• Plan and organise daily work schedules, absences, visits and holidays.
• Coach staff to follow clinical protocols for antenatal, delivery, post‑natal, family planning and newborn vaccination services.
• Ensure teamwork between the maternity unit and other hospital departments.
• Monitor hygiene, bio‑hazard prevention and infection‑control standards.
• Verify that personnel using medical devices are trained and report any malfunction to biomedical services.
• Oversee pharmacy‑related activities for the department, including stock management.

Required profile

• Three‑year diploma in Midwifery (essential) and a valid work permit as a midwife technician.
• Arabic and English language proficiency.
• Computer literacy (Word, Excel, Internet).
• Desirable: Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery, registration with Yemen Medical Council, at least two years of relevant experience, previous work with MSF or other NGOs.
