Maintenance Assistant – Aden Compound (UG)

About the role

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) is seeking a Maintenance Assistant to support the operation of its Aden compound. The role involves routine upkeep of generator and solar‑panel systems, as well as general facilities maintenance across the office and guesthouse premises.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance on office generator, changing oil and filters every 150 hours and inspecting wiring.
• Maintain a log book of generator maintenance and spare‑part usage.
• Conduct visual inspections of solar PV modules for cracks, damage or shading and record findings.
• Provide general electricity repairs and ensure all electrical equipment is safe and operational.
• Maintain water and sewer infrastructure, including repair of water pumps when required.
• Carry out daily inspections of buildings and outdoor areas, replace lightbulbs and perform minor repairs.
• Assist with overall office and guesthouse maintenance tasks as needed.
• Train the gardener and security guards on proper generator start‑up and shutdown procedures.

Required profile

• Experience with generator and solar‑panel maintenance.
• Basic knowledge of electrical systems and water‑pump repair.
• Ability to keep accurate maintenance records.
• Willingness to conduct regular inspections and report issues.
