Lead Mechanical Design Engineer – Infrastructure Projects

About the role

The Lead Mechanical Design Engineer will head the mechanical design of infrastructure projects in Qatar, covering concept, preliminary, detailed and tender stages while ensuring compliance with local regulations and international standards.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical engineering design for infrastructure projects from concept through detailed design and tender stages.
• Develop innovative and cost‑effective engineering solutions.
• Review and approve design calculations, drawings, specifications, BOQs and technical reports.
• Ensure designs comply with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), local authority regulations and international standards.
• Coordinate mechanical interfaces with civil, structural, electrical, architectural and utilities teams.
• Design and review mechanical systems such as pumping stations, water transmission & distribution networks, wastewater collection, sewage pumping, stormwater pumping, district cooling networks, utility tunnels, fire‑fighting systems, HVAC for infrastructure buildings and related building services.
• Select appropriate mechanical equipment for infrastructure facilities.

Required profile

• Proven ability to provide technical leadership and mentor engineering teams.
• Experience interacting with clients and multidisciplinary coordination.

Required skills

• Mechanical design of infrastructure systems.
• Design calculations, drawing preparation and specification writing.
• Knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and local authority regulations.
• Familiarity with international mechanical codes and standards.
• Design of pumping stations, water transmission & distribution, wastewater and sewage systems.
• Design of stormwater pumping, district cooling networks, utility tunnels, fire‑fighting and HVAC systems.
• Mechanical equipment selection for infrastructure projects.
