Lead Electrical Design Engineer – Infrastructure (Qatar)

About the role

Bilfinger is seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to head the electrical engineering design of infrastructure projects in Qatar. The role covers the full design lifecycle from concept through detailed design and construction support, ensuring safe, reliable and sustainable solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead electrical design for roads, highways, utilities, water & wastewater facilities, substations, district cooling plants and other public infrastructure.
• Develop innovative, cost‑effective MV & LV power distribution systems, transformer installations, switchgear, RMUs, generator and UPS systems.
• Design street, highway, tunnel, area and smart lighting, as well as electrical rooms, cable routing, underground networks, earthing, bonding and lightning protection.
• Integrate SCADA power systems, renewable energy (solar PV) and EV charging infrastructure.
• Review and approve calculations, drawings, specifications, BOQs and technical reports while ensuring compliance with Qatar regulations and international standards.
• Coordinate electrical interfaces with civil, structural, mechanical, ICT, utilities and architectural disciplines.
• Lead project teams, plan resources, monitor budgets, manage schedules and mitigate risks.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in electrical design for large‑scale infrastructure projects.
• Strong knowledge of Qatar electrical codes, international standards and client specifications.
• Proven leadership and project management abilities.
• Ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
