Head of Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) Unit

About the role

The World Food Programme is seeking a senior professional to lead its Monitoring, Learning and Evaluation (MLE) Unit in Aden, Yemen. The Head of MLE will ensure that all WFP programmes are systematically monitored, evaluated and that lessons learned are integrated into programme design and implementation.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee the design, implementation and quality assurance of monitoring and evaluation frameworks for all WFP Yemen activities.
• Lead a team of MLE specialists, providing technical guidance, coaching and performance management.
• Produce timely analytical reports, dashboards and evidence‑based recommendations for senior management and donors.
• Coordinate learning activities, knowledge sharing and best‑practice dissemination across country offices.
• Ensure compliance with UN and WFP M&E standards, policies and data protection requirements.

Required profile

• Advanced university degree in a relevant field (e.g., Development Studies, Statistics, Public Health, Economics).
• Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in monitoring, evaluation, learning or research, preferably in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams in complex environments.
• Strong understanding of UN humanitarian operations and donor reporting requirements.

Required skills

• Statistical analysis and data management techniques.
• Design and implementation of M&E frameworks and indicators.
• Report writing and presentation of analytical findings.
