General Support – Protection PSS Facilitator

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is recruiting a Community Centre (CC) Facilitator in Al-Musaymeer (Mokhran), Lahj, Yemen. The CC Facilitator runs recreational and psychosocial support activities for children, youth and adult women and men, carries out awareness-raising, helps set up the centre's schedule and refers people needing further assistance to DRC staff. The position is in the Non-Management (J) band, reports to the Protection Team Leader and starts as soon as possible.

Key responsibilities

• Organise and run recreational and psychosocial activities such as arts, sport, non-formal education and human development skills
• Help set up spaces and materials in the community centre for these activities
• Help plan and maintain the activity schedule and propose new ideas
• Identify needs for materials and equipment
• Greet, welcome, orient and register clients at the centre
• Hold information-sharing and awareness sessions and raise awareness among community leaders and focal points
• Safely identify and refer people needing additional services to DRC case management staff following defined referral pathways and SOPs, with a focus on high-risk cases
• Follow the DRC Code of Conduct, including neutrality, do no harm and non-discrimination

Required profile

• University degree in social work, education or a closely related field; proven field experience can be accepted in lieu
• Fluent written and spoken Arabic
• Experience facilitating recreational and psychosocial support activities and leading activities for children, youth and adults
• Knowledge of vocational and crafts
• Willingness to carry out tasks required by DRC and other partner agencies if relevant
