Forward Deployed Engineer (TS/SCI Clearance Required)

About the role

Vannevar is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to own mission‑critical software solutions for Department of War customers. You will work directly with operators, analysts, and senior technical leaders to translate national‑security requirements into scalable, production‑ready applications.

Key responsibilities

• Architect, build, and own end‑to‑end software deployed in customer environments supporting mission‑critical use cases.
• Serve as the primary technical liaison for senior government stakeholders, gathering requirements and representing Vannevar’s technical approach.
• Deliver full software lifecycle from design through deployment, sustainment, and performance optimisation.
• Produce hands‑on code to enhance product capabilities, scalability, and performance across diverse data sets (text, multimedia, geospatial, 46+ languages).
• Support government‑facing artifacts such as RFIs, RFPs, Statements of Work, and white papers.
• Integrate solutions with DoD IT ecosystems, ensuring compliance with security and operational constraints.

Required profile

• 5+ years of full‑stack development experience.
• Active U.S. TS security clearance with SCI eligibility.
• Proven experience developing software compliant with the DoD Risk Management Framework.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a track record of collaborating with government program offices and end users.

Required skills

• Relational databases (PostgreSQL).
• Caching technologies (Redis).
• Object storage (Amazon S3).
• Modern front‑end frameworks (React).
• Understanding of government IT systems, IdAM providers, SIEM, and CDS integrations.
