Customs Classification Broker

About the role

The Customs Classification Broker ensures that all import, export, re‑export, transit and bonded‑zone shipments are accurately classified according to ZATCA regulations and the GCC Integrated Customs Tariff. Working within the Customs Clearance department at King Abdul Aziz Port, the role supports the preparation of customs declarations and safeguards compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Review commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin and other shipping documents.
• Determine and verify the correct HS Code, duty rate and tariff treatment for each shipment.
• Identify prohibited or restricted goods and obtain required government approvals.
• Coordinate with customers, suppliers, customs specialists, operations, warehousing and other internal teams.
• Support customs declarations for import, export, re‑export, transit, statistical and bonded‑zone movements.
• Respond to classification queries, remarks, inspections and document requests.
• Maintain accurate classification records and an approved HS Code database.
• Monitor regulatory changes and escalate any compliance concerns immediately.

Required profile

• High‑school diploma minimum; degree in Customs, Logistics, Supply Chain, International Trade, Engineering, Chemistry or related field preferred.
• Relevant experience in customs classification or clearance operations.
• Strong analytical ability, high accuracy, integrity and attention to detail.
• Good Arabic and English communication skills.

Required skills

• Knowledge of HS Code classification.
• Familiarity with ZATCA regulations and GCC customs tariffs.
• Experience using ZATCA, Fasah or other customs platforms.
• Ability to interpret customs documentation.
