About the role

UNICEF is re-advertising the Chief Health position (P-5, fixed term) in Aden, Yemen. The chief manages and leads all stages of health programmes and projects, from strategic planning to results delivery, and leads the health team in line with UNICEF's strategic plans, standards of performance and accountability framework, in consultation with the Regional Health Adviser. Previous applicants to the original advertisement are still considered.

Required profile

• A medical or advanced university degree in public health, pediatric health, family health, health research, global/international health, health policy and management, environmental health sciences, biostatistics, socio-medical, health education, epidemiology or another relevant technical field
• At least ten years of professional experience at the international level in public health planning and management, maternal and neonatal health care, or health emergency/humanitarian preparedness
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another official UN language or a local language is an asset
• Experience in partnership development and implementation of Multi Donor funded health programmes led by the World Bank is key, as the chief is the main interlocutor with the World Bank, GAVI and FCDO
• Experience in health systems programming where UNICEF leads in support of fragile governments, and in complex humanitarian contexts with disease outbreaks and conflict
• Proven experience leading diverse, multicultural teams and hands-on grant management
