Architect / Civil Engineer – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

The client is implementing Phase II of the Yemen Integrated Urban Services Emergency Project, focusing on restoring energy services in selected cities. An experienced Consultant Engineer is needed to design and support the installation of photovoltaic solar systems and diesel generator sets for critical facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare technical designs, Bill of Quantities (BOQ) and tender documents for solar‑PV and/or genset solutions in line with UNOPS guidelines.
• Conduct field visits to target facilities across multiple governorates to assess needs, verify site conditions and gather photographic evidence.
• Collaborate with electrical engineers to define space requirements, cable routes and identify obstacles for panels, batteries, generators and fuel tanks.
• Use surveying equipment (total stations) and GIS coordinates to produce accurate civil and steel‑structure designs.
• Create AutoCAD drawings showing orientation, azimuth, proposed locations and structural details for rooftop or ground installations.
• Ensure designs meet HSSE, aesthetic and sustainability standards and respond to review comments until final approval.

Required profile

• Professional Consultant Engineer with experience in civil/structural design for energy infrastructure.
• Familiarity with measurement instruments, total stations and GIS data handling.
• Ability to travel to various governorates and work under the direction of the Project Manager, Renewable Energy Specialist and City Engineer.
• Knowledge of UNOPS procedures and standards is advantageous.
