Protection Officer

About the role

The Protection Officer works under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader to deliver high‑quality protection services to conflict‑affected populations in Sa’ada, Yemen. The role focuses on Victim Assistance, case referrals and Cash for Protection, ensuring that individuals receive timely medical care and related support.

Key responsibilities

• Assist conflict‑affected individuals in accessing life‑saving medical interventions following DRC Victim Assistance SOPs, including verification, approval, intake, follow‑up and case closure.
• Report cases that exceed assistance ceilings and coordinate case conferences with the Protection TL, medical focal point and Protection Coordinator.
• Interview beneficiaries to verify personal and accident details, and maintain accurate case records.
• Conduct regular hospital visits to monitor treatment progress and provide follow‑up support.
• Prepare and submit payment requests for medical services through Microsoft Dynamics or manually, and liaise with the finance department for timely disbursement.
• Maintain the Victim Assistance tracking sheet and ensure data quality.

Required profile

• Experience in humanitarian protection or victim assistance programmes.
• Ability to conduct interviews, verify information and manage case documentation.
• Strong coordination skills with medical and finance teams.
• Willingness to travel in insecure environments and adhere to security protocols.
