MEAL Officer – Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability & Learning

About the role

The MEAL Officer will support BCHR’s humanitarian programmes in Mukalla by designing monitoring tools, training enumerators, and producing high‑quality reports on project performance, accountability and learning.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and pilot data‑collection tools for surveys, focus groups and other assessments in line with project M&E plans.
• Train field enumerators on tool usage and supervise data collection activities.
• Prepare timely monthly performance reports, track indicators, and follow up on action points from review meetings.
• Implement and manage the complaints, feedback and response mechanism to ensure beneficiary accountability.
• Conduct field visits to verify project outputs against targets and assess cost‑effectiveness.
• Review field reports for accuracy, reconcile figures with project proposals, and ensure data quality.
• Support the creation of case studies, success stories and other communication materials.
• Document lessons learned, best practices and recommendations for programme improvement.

Required profile

• University degree in statistics or a related quantitative field.
• 3–5 years of experience in humanitarian or international development programmes, with a focus on monitoring, evaluation and/or beneficiary accountability.
