ICLA and Protection Assistant (Marib, Yemen)

About the role

The ICLA and Protection Assistant will support the implementation of ICLA and protection activities in Marib, Yemen, ensuring they align with approved proposals, donor requirements, NRC policies and local customs. The role serves as the focal point for needs assessments, beneficiary selection and field implementation, providing guidance, outreach and advocacy for internally displaced persons and other vulnerable groups.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all ICLA and protection activities comply with NRC policies, donor requirements and international standards.
• Lead needs assessments, beneficiary selection and field implementation, subject to security clearance.
• Oversee the full project cycle – planning, monitoring, verification and evaluation – to guarantee timely and quality delivery.
• Conduct awareness sessions, capacity‑building workshops for local authorities and community groups.
• Maintain up‑to‑date case management systems and service‑provider mapping.
• Carry out outreach, awareness campaigns and advocacy initiatives through group information sessions.
• Guide beneficiaries seeking legal counselling and ensure appropriate referrals.
• Collect, analyse and report on policy changes affecting IDPs and document findings in quantitative and qualitative reports.
• Build strong relationships with beneficiaries through regular engagement and visits.

Required profile

• Experience working on ICLA and protection programmes in humanitarian settings.
• Knowledge of national and international legal frameworks relevant to IDPs.
• Ability to conduct participatory assessments using tools such as focus groups, interviews and surveys.
• Strong communication skills for outreach, advocacy and capacity‑building activities.
• Willingness to obtain security clearance for field work in Marib.
