Humanitarian Mine Action Officer – Medic

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking three qualified Medic officers to support mine‑action teams in the field. The role involves providing emergency medical care, ensuring medical readiness, and coordinating casualty evacuation during de‑mining operations.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain up‑to‑date records of local medical facilities and contact details.
• Ensure all medical equipment and supplies are complete, serviceable, and within validity dates.
• Stay alert and available throughout clearance activities, ready to respond to incidents.
• Operate and maintain the ambulance/safety vehicle for rapid casualty evacuation.
• Prepare and update CASEVAC plans for each work site and conduct monthly exercises.
• Provide first‑aid and trauma stabilization until MEDEVAC/CASEVAC resources arrive.
• Report medical coverage issues to the Team Leader and support overall project health and safety standards.

Required profile

• Experience in emergency room or trauma care, preferably in field or humanitarian settings.
• Ability to conduct medical training for project staff.
• Strong communication skills with hospitals, physicians, and de‑mining teams.
• Willingness to work in remote, conflict‑affected environments and remain on‑call during operations.
