Head of Mission – Yemen

About the role

The Head of Mission leads INTERSOS’s humanitarian response in Yemen, representing the organization at the highest level and ensuring the delivery of life‑saving assistance. This senior position reports directly to the Regional Director MENA and oversees the senior management team.

Key responsibilities

• Define and implement the mission’s strategic vision, aligning programmes with the evolving political and humanitarian context.
• Manage resources, budgets and staffing to ensure effective and efficient programme delivery across health, nutrition, protection, WASH and livelihoods.
• Monitor and analyse security, political and humanitarian developments, providing timely advice to senior leadership.
• Represent INTERSOS with donors, government authorities, UN agencies and local partners, advocating for vulnerable populations.
• Ensure compliance with organisational policies, donor requirements and international humanitarian standards.

Required profile

• Minimum 10 years of experience in humanitarian operations, with at least 5 years in senior management.
• Proven track record of leading large‑scale programmes in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of the Yemeni context, including security, political dynamics and humanitarian needs.
• Excellent leadership, negotiation and stakeholder‑engagement skills.
• Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
