Deputy Team Leader – 6‑Month Fixed‑Term (Maternity Cover)

About the role

The Yemen Flexible Funding Mechanism (YFFM) seeks a Deputy Team Leader for a six‑month fixed‑term maternity cover. Working remotely with occasional travel to the Middle East, you will provide senior operational, financial and programme management support to ensure continuity and compliance of the initiative.

Key responsibilities

• Review and strengthen devolved systems and processes linking HQ, the Project Office and Fund Teams.
• Provide advisory support to interventions under the Technical Assistance Facility for Yemen (TAFFY) and Yemen Support Facility (YSF).
• Assist the Team Leader in identifying and onboarding resources required for delivery.
• Ensure Technical Assistance Ventures and Draw‑Down Projects meet Chemonics and FCDO requirements.
• Advise on governance structures, meeting rhythms and agenda development for the Project Office.
• Collaborate with Senior Finance Manager to oversee budgeting, forecasting and financial issue escalation.
• Support HR and Operations managers to maintain compliant procurement, HR and operational systems.
• Lead the development of an Exit and Handover document and act as escalation point for reporting and risk management issues.

Required profile

• Significant experience in programme management, finance and governance within international development.
• Proven ability to work remotely across time zones and coordinate multi‑disciplinary teams.
• Fluency in Arabic and English.
• Willingness to travel occasionally to the Middle East, including Yemen.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a focus on compliance and risk mitigation.
• Experience managing budgets, forecasts and financial reporting for donor‑funded programmes.
