Deputy Country Director – Yemen

About the role

Relief International is seeking a Deputy Country Director to join its Yemen team in Aden. The position provides senior strategic, programmatic and operational leadership for humanitarian and development activities across the country, with up to 50% travel within Yemen.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Country Director in shaping and executing Yemen’s country strategy and fostering cross‑functional collaboration.
• Oversee programme implementation, budget management and compliance with donor requirements.
• Lead the development of evidence‑based proposals and fundraising initiatives.
• Strengthen MEAL, programme quality and risk management systems to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
• Manage and develop programme teams while representing Relief International with donors, partners and coordination forums.

Required profile

• Master’s degree in a relevant field or a bachelor’s degree with equivalent professional experience.
• Extensive senior leadership experience in humanitarian or development contexts.
• Proven track record managing donor‑funded programmes (e.g., USG, ECHO, EU, FCDO).
• Strong analytical, strategic planning and stakeholder engagement abilities.
