Country Director - Yemen

About the role

The Country Director for Yemen will lead Première Urgence Internationale’s operations in the country, ensuring the delivery of humanitarian assistance to vulnerable populations affected by crisis. Reporting to the regional leadership, the Director will oversee program implementation, staff management, and partnership development to achieve the organization’s mission.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership and overall management of PUI’s programmes and activities in Yemen.
• Ensure compliance with donor requirements, internal policies, and local regulations.
• Develop and monitor budgets, financial plans and resource allocation for a 12‑month fixed‑term contract.
• Represent the organization with government authorities, UN agencies, NGOs and other stakeholders.
• Lead recruitment, supervision and capacity building of national staff and expatriate team members.
• Oversee monitoring, evaluation and reporting of programme results and impact.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in managing large‑scale humanitarian programmes, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Proven track record of leading multidisciplinary teams and achieving results under pressure.
• Strong understanding of donor funding mechanisms and compliance procedures.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with external partners.
• Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
