Community Midwives for UNV Assignments in Yemen

About the role

Join a humanitarian team delivering essential reproductive health and maternal‑newborn care to displaced and vulnerable women and girls across Lahj, Aden, Marib and Abyan in Yemen. The role involves community‑level service provision, outreach and coordination with emergency obstetric facilities.

Key responsibilities

• Provide antenatal and postnatal care, family planning counselling, skilled normal childbirth assistance and essential newborn care.
• Identify danger signs in mothers and newborns, initiate timely referrals and maintain links with designated emergency obstetric and newborn care facilities.
• Conduct community outreach and health education on early ANC, birth preparedness, postnatal care, family planning and healthy pregnancy spacing.
• Monitor barriers to service access, refer eligible women to cash and voucher assistance, and track reproductive health commodity stocks.

Required profile

• Technical or vocational diploma in Midwifery, Nursing‑Midwifery, Community Midwifery or related field.
• Recognised midwifery qualification and valid professional registration/licence in Yemen (if applicable).
• Native‑level Arabic; basic English is an asset.
• Commitment to patient dignity, safeguarding, human rights and protection principles.

Required skills

• Midwifery practice including antenatal, postnatal, safe delivery and newborn care.
• Family planning counselling and identification of maternal‑newborn danger signs.
• Ability to maintain accurate clinical and programme records while respecting confidentiality.
