Protection Team Leader - Legal Aid & VA

About the role

The Protection Team Leader will report to the Protection Manager and work under the technical supervision of the Protection Specialist. Based in Aden, the role oversees DRC’s legal aid and victim assistance programmes across Aden, Lahj and Taiz, ensuring effective implementation and coordination with partners and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Manage grants and budgets for legal activities, ensuring timely spending plans, procurement and resource distribution.
• Support project planning, work‑plan development and target tracking to meet programme goals.
• Monitor financial commitments, provide budget feedback to the Protection Manager and contribute to legal aid proposal development.
• Oversee partner activities, ensuring they meet spending plans and target outcomes.
• Collaborate with the legal team to design and deliver culturally appropriate legal awareness‑raising sessions.
• Schedule and coordinate regular legal consultation sessions and provide guidance to legal staff.
• Provide daily technical and organisational support, capacity‑building, monitoring and reporting for the legal aid team.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising legal aid or victim‑assistance teams in humanitarian settings.
• Strong background in grants and budget management for protection programmes.
• Ability to work closely with protection managers, specialists and external partners.
• Excellent coordination and communication skills with local stakeholders.
