Protection Specialist

About the role

The Protection Specialist works under the supervision of the Protection Manager to provide technical oversight and support for protection programming. The role focuses on delivering quality, accessible, and confidential services through community‑based mechanisms, strengthening standards, partner capacity, and safe referral pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Provide technical oversight and support to partner organisations and DRC teams in the implementation of protection programmes.
• Support the design and delivery of community‑based services, including specialised support, referral mechanisms and links to legal, psychosocial and other relevant services.
• Identify, analyse and help mitigate protection needs of vulnerable and at‑risk persons, adapting programmes to emerging trends.
• Develop, harmonise and roll‑out technical tools, Standard Operating Procedures, guidance and minimum standards across programmes.
• Contribute to protection analysis, track contextual trends, barriers and emerging needs, and provide recommendations for programme quality and relevance.
• Provide technical input to assessments, project design, donor reporting and other programme documents.
