Protection Intern – Legal

About the role

The Danish Refugee Council is seeking a motivated Protection Intern – Legal to support legal awareness and civil documentation activities in Turbah, Yemen. Working under the supervision of the Protection Team Leader and guidance from Legal Aid staff, the intern will assist with outreach, logistics, and basic administrative tasks to ensure safe and inclusive community participation.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in community outreach and mobilisation using approved messages, materials and procedures.
• Prepare venues, ensure accessibility, privacy and logistical arrangements for legal awareness sessions and documentation events.
• Distribute approved DRC materials, communicate service schedules, locations and access arrangements, and refer substantive legal queries to Legal Aid staff.
• Record attendance and maintain activity registers, collecting only the minimum required information.
• Support field visits, mobile activities, appointment scheduling and communication with community members under direct guidance.
• Perform non‑substantive administrative tasks, organise activity materials and assist with data entry and filing in line with DRC data‑protection procedures.
• Refer any legal, protection, safeguarding or urgent concerns to designated DRC staff through approved pathways.

Required profile

• Enthusiastic individual willing to work under close supervision of Protection and Legal Aid staff.
• Strong interest in humanitarian protection, legal awareness and community engagement.
• Ability to follow instructions, maintain confidentiality and respect data‑protection standards.
• Flexibility to work in field settings and adapt to changing schedules.
