National Project Coordinator

About the role

The National Project Coordinator will lead the implementation of the Global Environment Facility (GEF) Small Grants Programme (SGP) in Yemen. This position supports community‑based organisations to address climate change, conserve biodiversity, protect waters, reduce pollutants and prevent land degradation.

Key responsibilities

• Coordinate the national rollout of the GEF Small Grants Programme, ensuring alignment with UNDP and GEF guidelines.
• Manage the full grant cycle – from call for proposals, selection, disbursement, to monitoring and reporting.
• Engage with NGOs, community groups and government agencies to foster partnerships and build technical capacity.
• Oversee data collection, environmental monitoring and impact assessment for funded projects.
• Prepare regular progress reports and financial statements for UNDP, GEF and other stakeholders.

Required profile

• Proven experience in coordinating environmental or biodiversity projects, preferably in conflict‑affected settings.
• Strong understanding of ecosystem services, climate adaptation and community‑based conservation.
• Ability to work with diverse partners, including NGOs, government bodies and international donors.
• Excellent communication and reporting skills in English.
