Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Manager (MHPSS)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee is seeking a Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Manager to lead the integration of mental health services into primary health care across its programmes in southern Yemen. Reporting to the Senior Health Manager, the role will coordinate clinical MHPSS activities, develop guidelines and SOPs, and build the capacity of national health staff and partners.

Key responsibilities

• Support the integration of mental health into primary health‑care services following WHO mhGAP‑HIG and national guidelines.
• Develop, adapt and implement MHPSS clinical guidelines and standard operating procedures, including coordination with protection programmes.
• Design and manage internal and external referral pathways for mental health and psychosocial support.
• Provide on‑the‑job training, supervision and mentorship to medical staff and national partners on mhGAP and mental‑health integration.
• Collaborate closely with the Health Coordinator, senior managers, protection teams, local partners and Ministry of Health officials.
• Monitor and report on MHPSS programme performance and ensure alignment with IRC’s humanitarian objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in managing mental‑health or psychosocial‑support programmes in humanitarian settings.
• Demonstrated ability to train, supervise and mentor health professionals and partners.
• Strong coordination skills with multi‑sectoral teams, including protection and health actors.
• Experience working with national health ministries and sub‑national coordination bodies.
• Fluent in English; knowledge of Arabic is an asset.
