Mental Health & Psychosocial Support Manager (MHPSS)

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking a Mental Health & Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) Manager to lead the integration of mental health services into primary health care in southern Yemen. The role focuses on developing clinical guidelines, coordinating with protection programs, and building the capacity of local health staff.

Key responsibilities

• Support integration of mental health into primary health care following WHO mhGAP-HIG and national guidelines.
• Develop and implement MHPSS clinical guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for coordination with protection programming and referral pathways.
• Provide training, on‑the‑job supervision, and mentorship to medical staff and national partners on mhGAP and mental health integration.
• Coordinate closely with the Health Coordinator, Senior Manager, protection teams, partners, and Ministry of Health officials.
• Monitor and report on MHPSS activities, ensuring alignment with IRC’s humanitarian objectives.

Required profile

• Proven experience in training, supervision, and capacity building of health personnel in humanitarian settings.
• Strong background in mental health and psychosocial support, preferably with experience using WHO mhGAP-HIG.
• Ability to develop clinical guidelines and SOPs and to establish referral networks.
• Excellent coordination skills with health, protection, and governmental stakeholders.
